10 Reasons Why You Should Study Your Bible
How does studying your Bible help you?
This is a question I have been ask many times through out my Christian walk. Mostly it comes from younger and new Christians that are struggling between the life they came from and embracing their new life in Christ. Through my study of the Bible and personal walk with Christ I have come up with 10 reasons why you should study your Bible.
- Bible Study: Strengthens your convictions.
- Enables you to accurately handle God’s Word.
- Enables you to understand spiritual truth.
- Gives God the opportunity to speak to you.
- Helps you to know God’s character, thereby enabling you to trust God for greater things.
- Provides the basis for becoming Christ’s disciple (John 8:31).
- Enables you to understand Biblical truth in its true context.
- Makes the Christian life more exciting, joyful, and full of peace.
- Shows you the right things to do and prevents you from falling into sin.
- Disciplines your mind and will, and equips you for every good work.

William,
I read your bio and your article on the benefits of reading the Bible. Everything you have on the list is great. Your question, “How does studying your Bible help You?” is a good question. Of course the Bible helps me in all the ways you mention. The Holy Spirit, who is my Teacher, gives me new insights each time I read any scripture in any book, Old Testament or New. As we know God’s word is living and active as explained in Hebrews. The Holy Spirit glorifies Christ when I read God’s word. The reading of God’s word accomplishes things since God says He does not send His word forth without accomplishing the purpose for which He sent it. God’s word never returns to Him empty. His word comes to each Christian, fills him, empowers him, and returns to God our Father. I look forward to your next post.
Thanks for your awesome comment Bob. You are right the Bible is alive and when a person becomes alive in Christ, the Bible becomes a living guide instead of just a history book.
